I graduated from college with a bachelor of arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Communications. Currently, I work as digital marketing specialist for local companies and do freelance work from home. I have two supportive parents, one sister and a trusty service dog, named Nottingham. In my free time, I love to paint, read and hang out at Starbucks with friends.
Why Create a Blog About My Disability?
Why did I create this blog?
Back in 2016, I was a fresh college graduate looking for a job and decided to start a cooking blog to…
- Learn how to cook
- Share my experiences overcoming obstacles in the kitchen
- Gain some copywriting and WordPress experience
Flash-forward to 2023, my blog has evolved to share how I navigate having a physical disability and speech impediment in all aspects of my life and not just cooking. Throughout this blog, I am going to be sharing tips on traveling with a disability, review adaptive cooking tools, talk about my service dog as well as share my journey on making my home more accessible.
What is cerebral palsy (CP)?
If you don’t already know, you are probably asking this question, “What is cerebral palsy”?
Cerebral palsy (or cp for short) is a neurological disorder that affects body movement and muscle coordination. For some, cerebral palsy affects only parts of their body, such as their lower or upper. While others, it affects their entire body. Some have really tight muscles, while others have to deal with very loose muscles.

In my case, I have spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, which is a fancy way of saying that the muscles in my legs, arms and hands are constantly tight and like to spasm. My primary mobility device of choice is a red walker that I have dub my ‘corvette’, but I will occasionally zoom around in my electric wheelchair when visiting a museum or somewhere that requires a lot of walking.
